Opera The Barber of Seville

Boulevard St-Laurent, corner St-Zotique (Loto-Quebec stage)

Originally based on Beaumarchais' play, "The Barber of Séville" was adpated by Rossini and first performed in 1816. Following a tradional Commedia dell'arte structure, the romantically comedic story between a Spanish count and his love, Rosine, will be the grand finale to the festival. Featuring internationally renowned artists, this opera has been the festival's trademark event for years, catering to thousands of visitors and opera enthusiasts.

Performers from Italy include:
Marco Camastra (baritone)
Alessandro Luciano (tenor)

In addition to Raphaëlle Paquette (soprano), Alexandre Sylvestre (baritone) and Michel Lepage (baritone)
Conducted by Maestro Gianluca Martinenghi
Music by Orchestre symphonique des Musiciens du Monde, Joseph Milo (founder)

Ferrari Dream Drive

Boulevard St-Laurent, Little Italy

On Saturday, August 14, Little Italy will be the circuit for the Dream Drive, which will see sick children ride along side members of The Ferrari Club of America. The drive will start at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and make its way to Little Italy, where 60 to 100 Italian luxury cars will circulate onto St-Laurent Boulevard in a victory lap fashion. The cars will remain on exhibit on St-Laurent the entire afternoon while children, drivers and family enjoy the lively and dynamic atmosphere of the festivities surrounding Montreal’s Italian Week!

Marco Calliari

Marco Calliari is a Québec writer and composer of Italian origin. He began his solo career singing at Montreal's Italian Week in 2003. His first album "Che La Vita" is a seamless combination of Italian folk music and a modern spin on jazz. In 2004, he received the Galaxie award from Radio Canada at the Festival des musiques émergentes in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. He is currently working on his third studio album "Al Faro Est".

Enzo Favata and the Tenores di Bitti Jazz Group

Tenores di Bitti (Remunnu 'e Locu) is a "cantu a tenore" group, originating from the picturesque island of Sardinia. Composed of four people - Daniele Cossellu, Pierro Sanna, Mario Pira and Pierluigi Giorno - the group made an appearance on a local television channel," Videolina Cagliari" for the broadcast of "Sardegna Canta" in 2003, in which they were awarded a gold medal honoring their career.  

The group was joined by renowned jazz musician Enzo Favata, in 2005. Playing over 2000 concerts all over the world, this Sardinian native's music ranges from traditional to modern while blending styles from different cultures. He studied classical music, plays the saxophone, the clarinette and other instruments particular to the Sardinia region. Favata is also experienced in acoustic and electronic musical styles.
